World Bicycle Relief
In early 2016 I came across World Bicycle Relief while browsing social media and found myself drawn by the way this organisation combined my love of riding with making a difference in the lives of others. In how the organisation was harnessing the Power of Bicycles to fight poverty and provide opportunity.
For many people in rural regions of developing countries, poverty is a daily reality. In areas where walking is the only mode of transport, a Buffalo Bicycle offers the real and immediate benefit of reliable access to essential goods and services. Powered by the remarkable human spirit, bicycles are a catalyst to possibilities.
THE NEED
Walking is the primary mode of transportation for many people in the developing world. Everyday tasks can quickly become a struggle against time and fatigue. Going to school, visiting the health clinic, and delivering goods to market are more challenging because of the barrier of distance.

With expertise gained from designing and delivering more than 300,000 Buffalo Bicycles, WBR has developed an efficient, innovative and scalable model to provide affordable transportation in rural areas of developing countries.
